Digital Business Research at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS)

Thomas Fischer, researcher at the department of Digital Business joined his colleagues Dr. Andreas Auinger and Dr. René Riedl to attend the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) 2018 in San Francisco.

Trust in Blockchain Technology

From December 13 to 16, the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) took place at the Marriott Marquis hotel in San Francisco with main conference topic being: „Bridging the internet people, data, and things“. This year, Dr. Andreas Auinger, Dr. René Riedl and Thomas Fischer attended the conference to meet with colleagues from the information systems field and present the results of their most recent research. Dr. Auinger and Dr. Riedl presented a poster on the role of trust in blockchain technology and refuted the idea that trust does not play a role in transaction using this novel technology.

NeuroIS Workshop of the Society for NeuroIS

Prior to the conference, a group of NeuroIS scholars, including Fred Davis, Thomas Fischer, Pierre-Majorique Léger, Adriane Randolph, and René Riedl organized a NeuroIS workshop that served as an introduction to the field for attendees of the conference. They presented some basics of the field, including its current status and fundamental methods. At the end of the workshop, the foundation of the Society for NeuroIS was announced, which has the purpose of supporting basic and applied research and systems development in the field of NeuroIS. In addition, some of the founding members of the field (Fred Davis, Pierre-Majorique Léger, Adriane Randolph, René Riedl, Jan vom Brocke) were part of a NeuroIS panel during a meeting of the Special Interest Group for Human-Computer Interaction (SIGHCI) were they discussed their impressions of the current status of the field and its future development.
